​Godan Exam

If you are a Bujinkan Yondan (4th Dan) and have held the rank for at least one year, you may apply for the Godan exam. You can sign up for the exam with the following form:

To qualify, you must provide:

  • A copy of your Yondan certificate

  • An recommendation letter from a Shidoshi or Shihan

  • A copy of the recommending Shidoshi/Shihan's Godan certificate or Shidoshi license

  • A passport-style photo

  • 50,000 JPY for processing (Diploma & Shidoshi Licence)

  • Payment in JPY for Shidoshi patch(es) and/or Lapel pin(s)

If you pass, your fees, photo, and documents will be sent to Japan for processing. The Event Staff will assist with paperwork and coordination.

Please note:  We will not accept any applications for the Godan test after August 1st, 2026

​Godan Test Terms and Conditions

  1. I am aware that I can only take the exam if I have a vaild ticket for the Taikai.

  2. I am aware that I have to bring along a passport photo.

  3. ​I am aware that I have to bring exact amount of Yen to fufill order to Japan and that no other currencies will be accepted. (Please place it in an envelope with your name written on it)

  4. ​I am aware that this data will be forwarded to Honbu and kept in their records.

  5. ​I am aware that there is a risk of injury and I am taking the exam on my own responsibility.
